InertLink is free, open-source software provided as-is. Using it means accepting what follows — most importantly, that it is a warning tool and not a guarantee.

InertLink will not catch every dangerous link. It scores a link from its address using local heuristics. A well-built phishing site on a freshly registered domain can score clean, and a legitimate site can occasionally be flagged. Treat a verdict as one more piece of evidence, not as permission to stop thinking.

You remain responsible for what you click, what you type into a page, and what you install.

Licence

InertLink is released under the MIT Licence. You may use, copy, modify, and redistribute it, including commercially, provided the copyright notice and licence text are kept. The full text is in LICENSE.

No warranty

The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. This is the MIT Licence's warranty disclaimer and it applies in full.

In particular, no warranty is given that the software will detect any specific threat, that it will be free of false positives, or that it will run without interruption.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from the use of this software — including losses resulting from a malicious link that InertLink did not flag, or from a legitimate link that it did.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing here affects consumer rights you may have that cannot be waived.

Third-party services

Online reputation checking is optional and off by default. If you enable it, you supply your own API key for a provider such as Google Safe Browsing, and your use of that provider is governed by their terms and privacy policy, not these. InertLink neither controls nor is responsible for their availability, accuracy, or decisions.

Acceptable use

Do not use InertLink to build or test systems intended to evade link-safety tools, and do not present a modified copy as the original. The MIT Licence permits modification and redistribution; it does not permit passing your version off as this one.

No account, no payment

InertLink has no accounts, no subscriptions, and no payments. Nothing is charged and nothing is owed. There is no service-level commitment, because there is no service — the extension runs entirely on your own machine.

Availability and changes

The software may change or stop being maintained at any time. Published versions remain available under the MIT Licence regardless. If these terms change, the date above changes with them and the previous version stays in the repository's history.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
